After rigorous days of marching, after countless hours of practice, the Coppell High School marching band is on its way to the state championship after placing third in the area marching contest.

Two weeks after getting first division recognition in the regional marching contest, the team traveled to North Mesquite High School on Saturday to partake in the area contest. Out of 22 standout programs, Coppell is one of the four bands advancing to state along with Richardson Berkner, Rowlett, and Duncanville High School.

The band now will play in San Antonio at the Alamodome on Tuesday and will leave Monday after a week more of practice.

“We are all really excited to carry on the tradition of us making it to the state competition,” senior band co-president Taylor Harwood
