It may still feel like summer to students, but school has officially started in Coppell.

I am happy to be starting my second year on staff here at The Sidekick and  look forward to writing many stories about events that are taking place in and around Coppell.

Sports are just around the corner, and I barely have a day off waking up before the break of dawn Monday-Saturday to attend cross country practice and meets. I know I am not the only one who has been practicing all summer; football, volleyball and other sports have been practicing all summer for their seasons.

While high school sports are great, I am looking forward to college football the most. It is going to be a good college season especially in the SEC, as they added two new teams to the conference, Missouri and Texas A&M. It will be interesting to see how the new teams fair in the toughest conference in college football. Hopefully, my Auburn Tigers have a season as good as 2010 when the won the BCS National Championship. Either way, it will be a great season filled with upsets, surprises and Cinderella’s.
