One thousand five-hundered. This is the number of Americans that die from cancer every day. Many people are willing to stand up for this cause, and on Saturday, Apr. 28, they can do just that by participating in Relay For Life of Coppell. From now until this event takes place, 106,500 more lives will be taken by cancer, but we can do them a favor by taking part in this event.
Relay For Life is not only a fundraiser for cancer research, but also a celebration of life that lasts and entire night. Everyone is invited to join or create a team and to set a fundraising goal for themselves to benefit the cause. This is the event’s 10th year in Coppell, and this year it will be taking place in Wagon Wheel Park beginning on Apr. 28 at 5 pm and ending on Apr. 29 at 7 am.
Various activities are available for participants throughout the night. Each team is asked to have a member walking on the track at all times during the night to symbolize the cancer patient’s fight. Although it is hard to stay awake all night, this internal struggle is not as difficult as being diagnosed, fighting and beating cancer. In this family-friendly environment, there will be food, drinks and various activities to entertain participants throughout the night.
