Doing nothing the key to mental health, Stewart says

Kelly Stewart

Staff Writer

Summer vacation is just around the corner, and many students are thinking of the fun and exciting vacations that they plan to take this year. However, even ‘vacation’ sometimes means just being stressed in a different place, with the family having to rush around and see everything they can before time is up.

But what is really important about a summer vacation is the time to relax and do nothing except simple things like playing video games and watching TV. I think that sometimes, between duel credit summer school, summer jobs and college applications, many students forget that it is actually good to do nothing sometimes. Doing nothing and having no stress is good for the mind and the body, and it just feels good not to be stressed all the time. Doing nothing can seem like it is wasting time, but it actually can be productive.
