December is here!

December 2, 2010

Today marks the first day of December, an eventful, festive season as people everywhere prepare for Christmas, Hanukkah, and a variety of other winter celebrations. Lots of wonderful holiday events will be happening around Coppell, such as:

The annual Madrgal Feast. This holiday themed choir production is sure to intill the holiday spirit for its atendees. Make a reservation on the Choir Boosters’ website.

The annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting on Saturday, Dec. 4, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The holiday lights and decorations create an unmistakable atmosphere of holiday cheer.  Town Center Plaza will host holiday tunes, free funnel cakes and lollipops, and and even Santa Claus himself after the parade.

The Coppell public library will be hosting a Holiday Book and Author Fair on December 5th at 2:00. Don’t miss this oppurtunity to meet local authors and buy great holiday gifts!

December 17th holds the event most CHS students anxiously await–the last day of school before winter break!

And of course, we can’t forget the upcoming playoff game against Trinity which will take place December 3rd. Stay posted on CoppellStudentMedia.com for the latest on what you can expect in Coppell this holiday season.

Coppell Student Media was awarded its seventh National Scholastic Press Association Online Pacemaker on Saturday in Kansas City at the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention. The NSPA Pacemaker, often considered the Pulitzer Prize of scholastic journalism, has been awarded since 1927 and is the highest achievement for high school journalism programs.

TSA engineers success at state competition
Coppell ISD coordinator of student and staff services Marcy Walters will assume the position of principal at Victory Place @ Coppell for the 2024-25 school year. Walters previously worked in the Peace Corps and served as principal of Ginnings Elementary School in Denton ISD and as assistant principal for various schools.

Candy Sheehan addressed plans to expand pickleball facilities in Coppell to provide more courts to players. The construction of a new fire station was approved and citizens urged the council to reject high-density housing during the regular session on April 9.

On Monday, Coppell High School students experienced a total solar eclipse by viewing through district-issued viewfinders. Coppell was on the path of totality and CHS scheduled an evacuation drill from 1:35-1:55 p.m. to provide students a viewing experience.
