When you start preparing right before big exams projects, there are several ways to approach this scenario. You might think that it comes in the form of late-night studying, last minute cramming and similar approaches that require your brain to work twice as hard. But what if I told you an efficient way to approach studying might be to not go through alone?
Group studying is becoming increasingly popular among many students, and is beneficial as well. Studying in groups helps with maintaining accountability, active studying, support from fellow peers and having a community around you to help each other accomplish the same goal, which is doing the best you can in your studies.
“Group studying has allowed me to study in a much more efficient manner and it is also very fun,” sophomore Shaurya Saxena said. “I have made friends with new people around me who I can relate to and enjoy being with, and it really helps me a lot educationally and socially.”
Group studying is not entirely about boosting your academic performance. But it can also help with forming friendships and bonds with other students and keeping everyone, including yourself, motivated. When you are around other students who are focused on their work, it tends to be much easier to be productive. These study sessions can also be fun at times, further helping to boost efficiency.
”When I meet up with my friends to study together at the library the day before any test, some of the pressure and nervousness I felt before just goes away,” sophomore Aditya Shori said. “I really enjoy being around them because we are not only able to study better but we are also joking around and having fun while we do.”
Personally, group studying helped me get over my fear of asking questions to others. When I am in a smaller group with my classmates or friends, it is not as intimidating as when I have to raise my hand in front of the whole class. Group studying in general has made me more confident in learning and speaking up.
Whether it is meeting up with friends at the library, having an online video call study session or just reviewing with each other during lunch, being creative with the way you study is important. The next time you want to prepare for a big test, maybe consider adding some friends into the mix, because it could come with answers to questions you may not have ever thought about.
