Coppell High School administered the first and only Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) assessment of the year on Nov. 20. The assessment equips students with tools for career exploration.
Held in the Lecture Hall, the assessment was taken during the school day with all participants being excused from their first and second period classes.
While the ASVAB has been linked to military recruitment, CHS offers this test as an insight into career clusters and military pathways suit each individual student. The assessment evaluates a range of skills and aptitudes, such as proficiency in math, general sciences and mechanical engineering.
“This is my first time taking the test, and I think it’s a great way to explore different career options,” sophomore Bariq Bhatti said “It helped me learn more about what I’m good at and where I might want to focus my future plans.”.
For sophomore Rithvik Ramesh, ASVAB offers a unique perspective on his career choices.
“Even though I don’t plan on joining the military, the test helped me think about my strengths and what my weaknesses are,” Ramesh said.
Through ASVAB, students are able discover what career pathways suit them the most. By offering the ASVAB multiple times, CHS gives students the tools to explore their passions and build a strong foundation for whatever they may want to pursue in the future.
