On Tuesday, the Coppell girls basketball team was defeated, 52-23, by Frisco Memorial at CHS Arena.
The Cowgirls struggled to close the gap with Memorial throughout the game, as the Warriors pulled away in the second half.
Coppell coach Ravyn Terry said that after falling behind by 18 points in the first half due to Memorial’s strong defense, the Cowgirls focused on slowing down their offense and exploiting gaps in the defense to improve ball control.
“We had trouble breaking the press, and once we got into our half court, we were still sped up,” Terry said. “We didn’t take care of the ball very well and turned it over.”
The Cowgirls play their final nondistrict game in the Jack Frost Tournament at Georgetown on Thursday through Saturday.
“I think tonight’s game was a game where we kind of abandoned our foundation,” Terry said. “We need to get back to the basics, get back to our foundation defensively, and work from there.”
