Senior Class Assembly rallies students up for final year

The Senior Class held its first official meeting today during second period in the lecture hall. Career and Technology teachers, Shelly Redding and Tiffany Ganns helped senior class officers lead the session, where information was discussed regarding senior plans, graduation, and financial issues.

The first issue brought up was that of class T-shirts. Three submitted designs were shown to the seniors, who were then instructed to vote on ballots that were inititally handed out as they walked in. Shirts would be decided on and ready for sale for pre-order on the stage during the week of September 23-29 during all lunches for students to buy, and required if they wanted to be in the Panoramic Senior Photo on November 3. In addition to this, students were also asked to write out potential class speakers on the ballot, given free range to elect any adult they thought would be acceptable.

Following this, the series of senior events taking place throughout the year were then discussed. October 22 will be the Senior Class picnic, where students will have the opportunity to walk to Andy Brown park after their SPUR session and enjoy a period of music, food and fun to relax and get to know their peers. Tickets for the picnic will be $5 and will include a box lunch and a bottle of water. In addition to this event, talent show sign-ups, Prom, Shattered Dreams, Graduation, and other occasions were also discussed.

Following the presentation given by the senior class officers, a Jostens representative presented the idea of a “Cowboy Pack” to the seniors. This pack involved a cap and gown order, a tassle for a rearview mirror, a Senior shirt and a variety of other graduation-related items. In addition to these, cards for seniors to send out informing relatives and friends of their graduation would be available will a special CHS emblem on them in this pack. The representative went into great detail describing the money-saving offers such a pack would provide and the series of graduation-related things Jostens could help with.
