January 21, 2021
Whether you are making food for a friend, family or significant other, sweets are the perfect way to someone’s heart. This Valentine’s Day, celebrate love by whipping up personalized heart-shaped cookie dough bites for your favorite people.
Ingredients
For the cookie dough:
- 1 cup flour
- 8 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅔ cup mini chocolate chips
For the chocolate coating:
- ¾ cup chocolate melting wafers
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Assorted sprinkles and other toppings (optional)
Preparation
- Heat-treat flour by microwaving in a bowl for 1 minute and 15 seconds, stirring at 15 second intervals. This kills the bacteria in the flour, making the dough edible.
- Mix butter and sugar together in a large bowl until creamy. Mix in vanilla, heavy cream and salt.
- Fold in the heat-treated flour until it forms a dough. Add chocolate chips.
- Mold the dough into hearts and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Microwave heavy cream for 30 seconds and pour over chocolate melting wafers.
- Let the chocolate sit for two minutes before stirring until smooth.
- Using a fork, dunk the hearts in the chocolate mixture, making sure to evenly coat the dough.
- Decorate with sprinkles and toppings before the chocolate hardens.
- Refrigerate for 15 minutes and serve.
