Coppell tennis, seeded 12th in the state in preseason polls, cut its teeth against 21st seeded Southlake Carroll yesterday. They won in a thriller, 10-9.
Most of Coppell’s points came from doubles matches by winning a resounding six out of seven. The only loss came in mixed doubles, 5-8.
In singles, Coppell fared poorly, winning only four of twelve matches. Four of the losses came in three sets.
This win is an important achievement for the team, which was trounced by the Dragons last year. Their hopes of winning the district title and continuing to regional competition are significantly increased with the victory.
