This past Wednesday after school, CHS counselor Debbie Fruithandler and teacher Mr. Pool met to discuss Teen Leadership Coppell’s most recent fundraiser.
As a part of their program TLC must complete a service learning project in an effort to help them become more involved in the community. This year members decided to create a Walmart gift card drive to help Coppell families who found themselves in need of help during the current economy.
Teachers notified counselors of students who might be in need of financial help and in turn these notices were given to Mr. Hunt who is in charge of distributing the cards.
The student members of TLC were able to raise $1300, which is an amount absolutely worthy of praise.
Although next years members of TLC have already been announced, students who have a passion for helping others in their community can become involved in charitable organizations by becoming volunteers through the Volunteer Center of North Texas.
