I am retired. That’s right; I am retired from the one thing I grew up with truly loving. I am done with the NBA.
Now this might sound a little weird, but it’s all true. Now, what catastrophic event could cause all this? Not my arch nemesis San Antonio Spurs or my hatred for the league commissioner David Stern. It’s the guys that are on the court game in and game out. The officials.
I have watched my fair share of sporting games in my life. And with every sporting event you watch, great calls and bad calls by officials are made. Sure, sometimes the call was not fair but it went your way. And if you know that it was the right call but it was against you, do you still hate it? Absolutely.
In game 4 of the first round series between the Spurs and Mavericks, I saw some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. Calls were fouled against the Spurs that ended up going our way that I didn’t agree with, and vice versa.
I am not in any way shape or form upset with the Dallas Mavericks, even though I think that they should have performed a lot better than they did. I am truly upset with the officials of the NBA. And it’s not just for the Dallas games.
I have heard so many complaints about the officiating all over the league. I have a friend who is a Lakers fan (I don’t like the Lakers either) and he says he is seeing some horrible calls in their series.
Now someone is going to come and tell me that bad calls are “just part of the game”. Well it looks like I beat you to it, because I know that they are. There are bad calls all over the place in all sport events.
But with the NBA, things are getting a little out of hand. I have seen it way too much now, and far too often. Now I will still pull for the Mavericks, don’t get me wrong. I will follow them with a passion. But I’m done with the NBA in general.
