Beat the winter months with these soothing tea recipes

Turmeric mint is a classic tea recipe for when you are sick. The strong flavor from tumeric and coolness from mint will help relieve your sore throat and other gastrointestinal ailments

It is that wonderful time of the year. You are either enjoying a good pumpkin spice lattes in aesthetic cafes or you are coming down with a cold. Here are some soothing tea recipes that will help you take on the fall season with joy:

Serves 1 cup

Mint Turmeric Tea

This blend of aromatics will help soothe your flu symptoms and protect your immune system. Drink at least three times per day. 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 3 mint leaves 
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½  teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon honey (optional)

Procedure

  • Add water, turmeric powder and thinly sliced mint leaves into small pot
  • Add cinnamon (optional) and bring water to a boil
  • Pour into a cup and add honey (optional)
  • The sweet and hot cup of tea will soothe your sore throat in no time.

Ginger Lemon Honey Tea

Ginger has been used since the first civilizations in East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. This classic tea will help soothe your throat and help with flu nausea. Drink at least twice daily.

Ingredients 

  • 1-inch crushed ginger or ½ tsp ginger powder
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½  teaspoon lemon juice 
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • ½  teaspoon honey      

Procedure

  • Add ginger root or powder with water into small pot
  • Add pepper (optional) and bring to a boil
  • Use a strainer to collect all the residue and pour into glass
  • Add ½ teaspoon of honey and stir
  • Drink it while it’s hot

Pumpkin Spice Chai

Although this seems like a basic fall tea, the spice used in making pumpkin pie is known to help with flu and cold-like symptoms, most of which also relieve soreness and pain. Drink at least three cups per day.  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick cinnamon or ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1-inch ginger roots or ½ teaspoon ginger powder
  • ½  teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pinch cardamom powder
  •  5 Black tea bags
  • Sugar as per preference 

Procedure

  • Add milk to a small pot
  • Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and tea bags and bring to a boil
  • Add sugar
  • Serve it in a cup and enjoy
