On Saturday, select members from Coppell High School’s very own choir will participate in the Region 31 concert at the First United Methodist Church in Grapevine.

Region 31 consists of Coppell ISD, Birdville ISD, Carroll ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Students will perform a combination of music learnt prior to, as well as on the morning of the concert.

These individuals are participating in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-Region choirs. The TMEA All-State process has four rounds to be qualified for all state. Members who have passed the district round auditioned for the region choirs, which took place on Oct. 26.

They were then ranked, and depending on the rank were placed in either Region 31 Mixed, Treble or 9/10 (freshman/sophomore) Honor Choir for the third round. Those advancing to the third round will perform a concert with other school districts.

“Since this is my last year participating in the all state process, I’m really glad I get to be a part of the region choir,” CHS senior Amrita Ghose said. “It’s a long day, but practicing and performing with so many talented singers makes it an amazing experience.”

The concert begins at 4 p.m and ends at approximately 6 p.m. Guests are welcome to support the choir for free.
