It was the most devastating scene to drive by, as the AP Art History classes ventured back from their field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art on Wednesday, April 14.
I was sitting next to Drew Hasson on the bus ride back to the school as both of us simply stared in disbelief. Unable to grasp how a monument we had grown up with watching “America’s favorite team”, was actually no longer.
“I only remember going there for one football game and Kim Dalrymple’s sixteenth birthday party,” Hasson said.
While neither of us attended each and every game, we distictively recall the building being there. The site of debris was all that was left of the old Cowboys Stadium, where memories beyond football lied.
It is unimagineable to think what was going through the minds of those who attended the demolition. Sunday, April 11, thousands of inhabitants and fans surrounded the area as tears strolled down their faces watching the building being torn to pieces.
Although the old stadium is no longer, hopefully we all can make a few long-lasting memories in the new one.
