With three dominant performances against Irving MacArthur, Coppell beat the Cardinals 3-0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-9) in last night’s match at the CHS Arena.

The Cowgirls are now 8-4 in District 6-6A, and tied with Hebron for third in District 6-6A.

All three sets were extremely similar as Coppell and MacArthur exchanged points early on with Coppell eventually pulling away after 10 points.

This match was Senior Night for Coppell, allowing the Cowgirls to celebrate all of the seniors during pre-match introductions on their last Tuesday home game of the season.

“Our biggest weakness was just staying focused in the very beginning,” Coppell senior libero Maci Watrous said. “Obviously it’s Senior Night so a lot is going on… for the first set, we weren’t super focused but we had to get it together and we did in the end.”

Senior Night also proved to be very inspirational in the Cowgirls’ performance.

“[Senior Night] has really fun and it inspired us to go out there and play all out because, for us seniors, it’s our last Tuesday home game ever and we are never going to play in the arena again on a Tuesday so it made us just want to leave it all out there tonight,” Coppell senior libero Maci Watrous said.

Following an emphatic and emotional performance against the Cardinals, the Cowgirls still need work before they host Irving and head to Hebron for an intense match that will determine possible playoff seeding

“The biggest thing we need to work on is just consistency and execution which are things we focused on all season,” Coppell senior setter Kinsey Bailey said. “Especially when it is a tight [game] and we are getting to those 20-20 sets, we need to work on execution to finish that set and win it.”

Coppell plays Irving tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS Arena.
