Tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. at Coppell Middle School West, the Coppell cross country team races in its Coppell Invitational meet. This meet is the only one of the season hosted at Coppell.

While it is not confirmed which teams will race, there are a few Coppell is expecting.

“Prosper and Timber Creek are strong programs,” Coppell assistant coach Jason Spoor said. “If we’re up there beating them, we’re doing a really great job. Of course, we’re always going for Marcus too because they’re in our district.”

The race is about a month away from the District 6-6A meet on Oct. 18, so Coppell is looking for a preview into its district competitors.

“We want them to go out there and perform and represent Coppell well,” Spoor said. “It would be great to be a top team at our own meet.”

In preparation of the meets leading up to district meet, the runners are pushing themselves more in practice.

“We’ve been increasing our intensity in practice,” Coppell senior Mustafa Alwari said. “We race each other in practice and really compete with each other as much as tomorrow.”
