The CHS Cowgirls got off to a great start Tuesday by beating the Keller Central Chargers 4-1. Goals were scored by seniors Katie Bass and Alyssa Diggs, junior Chioma Ubogagu, and sophomore Lindsey Meyer.
The Cowgirls are very experienced in the playoffs as they have won last year’s state championship. The team will play against the Allen Eagles Friday at 6 p.m. at Hebron.
The rest of district 6-5A however did not fair as well as the Cowgirls did. Hebron lost to Keller in dribble downs and Flower Mound Marcus lost to Colleyville Heritage. Southlake Carroll advanced past Keller Fossil Ridge to keep the number of continuing 6-5A teams at two.
The Eagles last round took care of South Grand Prairie by the score of 3-1, so it appears that Allen does have some scorers poised to make meaningful runs through the Cowgirl defense. Another important stat going into Friday’s game is that the Cowgirls have not lost in sixteen straight games.
Both Coppell teams will play at Hebron giving the team more support in its quest to defend their state title.
