Friday Feb. 12, the Coppell Cowboys will take on the Marcus Marauders beginning at 7:30 at Echols stadium. Marcus, defending state champions, finished 11-1-1 in district last season. Coppell finished 6-2-1. According to ESPNRise’s Fab 50, Marcus now ranks 14th in the nation behind four other Texas teams; Jesuit (1st), Plano Senior (2nd), Strake Jesuit College Prep (8th) and Mansfield (12th).
“We have to play our best game,” coach Shane Bybee said. “I believe our best game is better than Marcus’s best game, but we’ve struggled this year to play our best for a consistent 80 minutes. It’s time for that to happen on Friday.”
It’s also “Fill the Stands” night at Echols stadium where all parents and students are encouraged to come out and support their Cowboys. Due to weather conditions this game may be cancelled but check in with the Sidekick later for information on cancellations.
“I like “Fill the Stands” night because of the extra fans we get,” senior and team captain Jordan Elgin said. “It’s always fun to play in front of a bigger crowd when everyone is excited to be there.”
