The Coppell Cowboys (17-0 overall, 3-0 District 7-6a) have a long standing rivalry with the district opponent Southlake Carroll Dragons (9-4-1, 0-1), ans the latest battle is this Friday at Carroll High School where the Cowboys have a chance to sweep the season series and stay #1 in the nation (via MaxPreps). Junior pitcher/outfielder Clayton Jones said, “Anytime you have a chance to get some bragging rights over a school like Southlake it gives you a little extra energy to tap into and makes this opportunity that much more fun.”

This past Tuesday the Cowboys beat Southlake 1-0 thanks to a combined one hitter turned in by junior pitcher John Kodros and senior pitcher/infielder Ray Gaither, yet the one run marks Coppell’s lowest offensive performance of the season. Assistant Coach Clint Rushing said, “We need to string together more quality at-bats, and overall do a better job of hitting.”

The series finale is set to take place at 7 p.m. Carroll High School, where senior TCU signee Charles King is primed to take the mound for the Cowboys.
