With the recent devastating series of earthquakes in Haiti, it seems that almost every organization is coming together to do all they can to help the situation. CHS has now become a part of this, asking for the creation of ‘Health Kits for Haiti’.
These Health Kits are designed to provide a series of the basic necessities for those in Haiti who have recently found themselves homeless. The kits include: one hand towel, one washcloth, one comb, one fingernail clippers, one bath-size bar of soap, one toothbrush, one large tube of toothpaste and six adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.
These basic necessities should be placed in a sealed one gallon plastic bag and then returned to the CHS nurse’s office. The bags from there will most likely be donated to a local church who is gathering these materials to ship to Haiti as soon as possible.
Due to the close proximity of this organization, it is perhaps one of the easier way for CHS students to help out with the situation in Haiti. However there are a series of other ways to help, such as texting to the Red Cross to donate $10 which will be added to a cell phone bill, or looking towards local churches for opportunities to donate money or any other sorts of good.
