Masterchef Junior star Brandenburg introduces healthy eating habits
November 4, 2015
From the “MasterChef Junior” kitchen to the Coppell Farmers market, Coppell Middle School West seventh grader Ryan Kate Brandenburg is always cooking up something.
Brandenburg was previously shown on Season 3 of “MasterChef Junior”, a series where contestants ages 8 to 13 compete against
one another by creating elaborate dishes.
Every weekend Coppell holds its very own Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Main Street. From time to time, a chef is welcomed to share their recipes with the public.
On Oct. 17, Brandenburg participated as the chef sharing “Healthy Meal Ideas for the Whole Family.” This specific occasion was dedicated to food day for children; promoting healthy eating habits.
Commencing with her Ginger-Garlic Salmon Packets with Citrus, Brandenburg prepared a mouth-watering dish. She then created her Salad on a Stick. This recipe is quite unique, straying from a typical plated salad to being on a stick, mixing creativity with a savory dish.
Brandenburg ended her demo with her Autumn Fruit Cappuccino, a delicious finale. As well as finishing up her dish, she then asked the children to volunteer in making the cappuccino, a great way to initiate healthy eating for children. After the little kids took turns volunteering, Brandenburg passed out samples to the audience, along with gift bags.
Coppell Farmers Market is a great place to go with the whole family. If you have not been, try it out. With 47 vendors, the Coppell Farmers Market is bound to have something you enjoy.
