New Superintendent:
After several months of anticipation as to who the new district superintendent for Coppell Independent School District would be Dr. Mike Waldrip was chosen by the Board of Trustees and started his new job at the beginning of the school year. Having been the Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Operations at Frisco Independent School District since 2002, Dr. Waldrip moved to CISD with lots of new ideas and has since helped the school district grow.
September:
College Night:
Each year, Coppell High School hosts the annual college night, during which representatives from many different schools come to talk to students about various post-secondary options. Set up in the commons, there were over 200 colleges and universities from different parts of the country this year.
October:
Senior Pep Rally:
Coppell High School continued the beloved senior pep rally tradition once again as the school gathered on October 31 before the varsity football game against Colleyville Heritage. The senior football players and cheerleaders choreographed the annual senior swing, and their performance this year was a dance to “Footloose,” which did not disappoint.
November:
Turkey Drive:
The 19th annual turkey drive was hosted by Coppell Independent School District, The North Texas Food Bank and the Coppell High School student council. The theme for this year was one that is often reinforced at the high school: “CHS We are One.” The event proved to be successful as the community came together and pitched in as much as possible to help others in need during the holiday season.
December:
Teacher of the year:
English teacher Samantha Neal was announced as the Coppell High School teacher of the year for 2014-2015. Neal has been a teacher at CHS for three years now, teaching both Pre-AP English II and AP English IV. The crown was passed onto her by last year’s teacher of the year, Jodie Deinhammer, as Neal was congratulated for her tremendous leadership skills and hard work as a teacher.
January:
Talent Show:
The annual Coppell High School talent show was held on January 30 and was an event that turned out to be a huge success. Performances included Air Crew, A Cappella and several other clubs and individuals who showed off their talents as the crowd cheered them on.
February:
Heritage Night:
Although Junior World Affairs Council had to postpone their annual Heritage Night due to inclement weather, the event did not disappoint as the event featured an evening of fun performances and a chance to show off the multicultural side of Coppell High School.
March:
Spring Showcase:
The Spring Showcase allows various students, organizations and classes at Coppell High School to show off their accomplishments from the year. There were five different sections at the spring showcase: the Clubs and Organization Showcase, the Learning Showcase, the Co-Curricular Showcase, the Performance Showcase and the Counselor Corner. Along with displaying their hard work, the night also allowed clubs to encourage other CHS students to join clubs and get involved in the various opportunities that the school has to offer.
April:
Shattered Dreams:
Every other year, students of KCBY at Coppell High School and New Tech High School put in months of time and effort to produce Shattered Dreams – a program created to show the terrifying results of drinking and driving. As juniors and seniors gathered to see the mock reality in which a group of seniors, after a night out, experience the death of close friends and the repercussions of bad decisions. All juniors and seniors from CHS and NTH@C were required to attend, and parents and teachers were also present at the event.
Girls Soccer wins state:
The Coppell High School girls soccer team beat Highland Park at the state championship and ended off a season with zero losses. With a 3-0 score as the clock stopped at zero, the girls finished the 2015 season with an amazing victory that will go down in the books.
Prom:
For the first time, this year’s prom not only on a Friday, it was also held at a new venue: Southfork Ranch. With the theme being Sunset Safari, the former setting of the popular show Dallas in Parker, TX was decorated beautifully and was a night to remember for many students.

Senior Awards:
The Coppell High School Class of 2015 was recognized at the Senior Awards assembly on May 26 in the large gym as teachers, students and parents gathered to see the various accomplishments. Awards that were given out included local scholarships, academic achievement awards and the annual Mr. and Mrs. CHS honors, which were given to Michael Butzer and Jordan Logan respectively.
