CHS students sing the alma mater at the end of the first pep rally of the 2014-2015 school year on Friday. The Cowboys open the season against Hebron at 7:30 p.m. at Buddy Echols Field.

Although the weather conditions changed the traditional outdoor pep rally to indoors on Friday, the students’ excitement did not waver. New plunger boy Daniel Jones, as well as another student section leader, Michael Butzer, led the crowd in chants and cheers as well as introduced new and exciting performances from other Coppell High School organizations such as the band,  cheerleaders, Lariettes and Silver Spurs.

“The pep rally got everyone rowdy and pumped for the game tonight,” Butzer said. “It was lead by the plunger boy who leads the section, so everyone is aware of their leader now and are prepared for what’s to come in the game tonight. It really started off the school year with a bang, and I can’t wait to see how this football season as well as the rest of the year goes.”

The pep rally was also an exciting time for senior girls as they got the chance to reveal their overalls for the first time. As a tradition at CHS, everyone was excited to see the many different girls’ personalities come to life in the form of overalls.

“I worked very hard on my overalls, and I know everyone else did, too, so it’s exciting to finally get a chance to wear them,” senior Kimberly Anderson said. “It’s fun to celebrate a tradition I’ve grown up knowing and anticipating my whole life, and now that it’s finally here, it just makes me all the more excited for the upcoming games and different events around the community.”
