The search for the next Coppell ISD superintendent is over, with the lone finalist in the search being Frisco ISD’s Dr. Mike Waldrip.
Waldrip currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Operations for the Frisco school district. Waldrip has worked for the school district since 2002 in numerous roles including: Director of Secondary Instruction, principal at the middle school and high school level, and Assistant Superintendent.
Coppell ISD’s Board of Trustees announced Waldrip as the finalist Wednesday.
Although he is the lone finalist and final candidate, Waldrip will still have to observe a 21 day waiting period. After the waiting period, the board will vote to offer him a contract.

COPPELL ISD ANNOUNCES LONE FINALIST
The Board of Trustees of the Coppell Independent School District is pleased to announce Dr. Mike Waldrip as their choice as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Waldrip (a Texas Tech graduate) is currently serving as the Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Operations for the Frisco ISD. He has been employed in numerous roles in that district since 2002, including Director of Secondary Instruction, Principal at the middle school and high school level, and Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Waldrip commented, “I am excited about coming to a district that has an incredible reputation for leading the way in public education.”
Dr. Waldrip is married to Lisa, who is also employed in public education in the Melissa ISD. They have two children, John and James. There eldest son, John, is an instructional coach in Frisco and his wife Rosemary enjoys her career in internet marketing. James is employed in the oil and gas industry in Austin, Texas. Dr. Waldrip and his wife are self-proclaimed fitness advocates who enjoy spending time together in the outdoors and listening to music.
The next step in the search process will be to observe a 21 day waiting period, after which time, the board will vote to offer a contract to Dr. Waldrip.
