Public library hosts Read to Rover

By Caroline Carter
Staff Writer

On May 18, the William T. Cozby Public Library will host Read to Rover, a reading program for elementary school students. Unlike many reading programs, Read to Rover involves children reading to specially trained dogs.

The program’s goal is to strengthen the literacy skills of young readers by encouraging the students to read aloud to someone that will not make corrections or interrupt. Read to Rover is a popular program nation wide.

To participate in Read to Rover, tickets must be acquired since the event is run on a first come, first serve basis. There is no cost to attend the event. Tickets can be purchased at the library’s information desk.
