As Coppell citizens take their daily run around the lakes at Coppell, many have noticed something strange going at Andy Brown Park East. The City of Coppell has initiated a crucial project to control the erosion around one of the lakes near Andy Brown East.
The lake has been experiencing a constant loss of earth around the edges due to the recent rain water as well as strong winds. It is possibly for the continuing erosion to negatively impact the trail that winds around these lakes. With the implementation of this project, the city hopes to correct these issues and keep the lakes afloat.
To fix this, the majority of the lake will be reinforced with a stone edge treatment that will be erected as a vertical wall, similar to a seawall. Also, the ABE lake activity will be reinforced with soil stabilization, but this is only a temporary solution to the issue. The more permanently solution to this problem will be addressed in the future during the upcoming Andy Brown Jr. Community Parks redevelopment project.
While this project is centered around Andy Brown East, the project will affect many areas such as Moore Road Park, Andy Brown Jr. Park East, as well as the canals that lead out of these lakes and travel behind Alex Drive.
The city warns that bike riders and runners that typically travel around the lakes need to be aware of the project and make sure to stay safe around the construction and project machinery. Although this can be seen annoyance, in the end, the project will be pay off and leave us with an overall safer park for the future! You can see a more detailed description of the project here.
