By Alex Irizarry Staff Writer In an attempt to help caregivers find a local source to assist in the aid of aging relatives, the caregiver support group at First United Methodist Church of Coppell will be hosting Lynda Carter, director of the AGE program from The Senior Source.
The AGE Eldercare Specialists aim to get members of the community to develop strategies for the benefit of seniors. They host events like the one at Methodist in an attempt to educate and discuss with caregivers the correct way to deal with housing, health care, finances, Medicare, etc. Eldercare Specialists also assist the elderly and their caregivers to deal with the emotional problems that come with age.
The workshop, entitled ‘Caregiving Heroes’, is open to the public and they invite any family caregiver to attend. The meeting is on March 6 at 7 p.m. in a classroom off of Wesley Hall at FUMC Coppell, which is located at 420 S. Heartz. If anyone needs more information, they ask that you contact Marilyn Horton by email marhorton@gmail.com or by phone 972-393-1304.
