Every other year at Coppell High School, students, teachers, parents, administrators and local police come together for Shattered Dreams, a program dedicated to promoting smart decisions and preventing drinking and driving. Applications to participate in the 2013 production of Shattered Dreams are available all week in Mr. Jasso’s office.
Prom and Graduation are two of the most common times for students to make the decision to drink and drive, and Shattered Dreams is a realistic simulation of a drinking related accident performed by Coppell High School students. Ambulances and CareFlight helicopters lift the victims, and the parents of the student are shown finding out about the accident. Each year, Shattered Dreams is a raw and emotional experience that is proven to have great effects on students when the program is done.
Shattered Dreams is a lot of work, and is no small commitment. Planning for the event, which is not scheduled until March, has already begun, and students should make sure they have time to attend meetings and rehearsals. Shattered Dreams is a great way to become involved at Coppell High School and a way to promote an important and serious issue. Be sure to pick up an application to complete over the break!
