On Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2009 Monica Winter’s art history classes and IB Visual Arts class visited the Kimbell Art Museum on an all-day field trip.
“The day before the field trip, Ms. Winters told us about her field trip for her art history kids, and then realized that the trip would probably be beneficial for us too,” junior IB Visual Arts student Sydney Kapp said. “Basically, we get to miss a day of school and we didn’t have to pay for the trip either.”
While the art history students have been given work to complete while they observe the artwork in the museum which parallels to the subjects they are studying in class, the IB students do not have a specific assignment to complete, however are there for a purpose.
“I think it will be an inspirational experience,” Kapp said. “I hope that I can use some of the things that I see on the trip on my own art portfolio.”
