Christmas lights adorn the houses, carolers make their way through neighborhoods and people are driving home from Christmas parties. They tell everyone there they are safe to drive home, they are good while driving drunk, or they will just drive slow. These people are putting themselves at risks along with everyone else on the road.
This year to avoid any wrecks with drunk drivers Coppell and Carrollton police departments as well as the Texas Highway Patrol will be working together to apprehend these careless drivers. In a study it was proved that one third of all fatal crashes involve a drunk driver, and the holidays are known for an increase of drunk drivers on the road.
That is why the officers goal is to keep the community safe by reducing the amount of possible injuries that are caused by drunk drivers. If you see a car that has any signs of intoxication such as: weaving across the road, stopping randomly, driving without headlights, driving slower than the speed limit or driving into oncoming traffic.
If you see any of this going on you can contact the Coppell Police Department at 972-304-7085, the Carrollton Police Department at 972-466-3297, or the Texas Highway Patrol at 817-299-1310. Remember to be safe this holiday season and make wise choices.
