Bullying is not a subject that is taken lightly in Coppell, let alone anywhere. More recently, the denomination of bullying within the world of females has begun to be looked into more than ever before. In 2012, two students at Pepperdine University, Lauren Parsekian and Molly Thompson, took a stand against girl on girl bullying by creating the Kind Campaign.
The Kind Campaign is a challenge to all women everywhere to be nice to each other. To promote this, Parsekian and Thompson went on a cross-country journey attempting to document the secret world of girls, and why they are so mean to each other. From the result, they produced the documentary Finding Kind.
Coppell showed Finding Kind for the first time this past March in the Coppell Middle School West auditorium. Hundreds of school are girls and their mothers came out to watch the film and attend a session afterwords reflecting upon what they had seen. The positive result from the last screening has ignited Coppell Independent School District to hold a screening of Finding Kind once again.
This year’s screening will take place next Monday, Nov. 12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School auditorium. All women from near by areas are invited to watch this truly empowering documentary together next week.
