Some people believe that the older they get, the less there is to do for Halloween. Coppell students proved this idea wrong by entertaining themselves with a variety of activities this year on the holiday. Even though the majority of people at Coppell High School attended some type of Halloween party, there were many other fun options available to students.
“I was at the OSU vs. Texas game this Halloween,” senior Karli Reichert said. “Even though OSU lost, it was still so much fun. At first, I thought I would regret being gone for Halloween, but the game was a blast and I got the opportunity to take a tour of the OSU campus.”
Other students had fun watching scary movies on TV, carving pumpkins, or admiring the trick-or-treaters who stopped by their houses.
“I just relaxed and watched Twilight on Saturday night,” senior Olivia Scott said. “I had fun being able to watch the little kids that were all dressed up come by my house.”
Even though the haunted house option was not the most popular among CHS students, all of the well-known haunted houses in Dallas were open later than usual on Saturday night. Some of the favorite houses in Dallas were Cutting Edge, The Dallas Scaregrounds and The Boneyard.
“I went to The Boneyard a couple weeks before Halloween and it was so much fun,” junior Allie Winkle said. “I’m glad I went before Halloween night, though, because I would think that it would be more packed than ever on Saturday.”
Although some find haunted houses too frightening, a few people felt the exact opposite and decided to visit graveyards near Coppell.
Whether it was a fun, relaxed or scary night, Coppell students made the most of their Halloween this year.
“I was just excited that Halloween was on a Saturday night,” senior Charlie Busch said. “After all, we were never able to stay out too late any other year of high school since the holiday ended up being on a school night. It was a great way to celebrate the Halloween of our senior year.”
