Joe McBride is a fighter.
Coppell High School’s head football coach put on a face of stone and faced the unfortunate circumstances of losing a player with a positive outlook.
Everyone in Coppell knows that the relationship between McBride and his players is that of a father and son. No one could have ever thought that the head coach of a team with an undefeated record overall and in district play would be so humble and loving in the face of adversity.
McBride knows that the events of last week were something no one should have to face.
“We have been through hell and back in one week and because our kids love each other so much, we just kept battling and pulled it out,” McBride said. “I am so proud of them.”
The entire week’s string of practices were rough on team morale, but McBride kept them focused by keeping their spirits up and spurred them on to an emotional 27-18 victory against Flower Mound last Friday.
“We are going to move forward [as a team] to get back to where we were before,” McBride said.

Tickets are $15 for family member while players get in for free. They can be bought at any JV or Freshmen football game.

Weber out
Junior right tackle Bill Weber is out for 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury. Weber suffered the injury during Coppell’s 27-18 victory over the Flower Mound Jaguars.
The earliest he would return would be the last game of the regular season against Lewisville High School.
