Recently, the City of Coppell and the City of Carrollton, agreed to combine their detention facilities. Starting Oct. 1, the Coppell detention facility will be shut down, and all arrests will now be taken to the Carrollton Police Detention Facility.
This is a big step forward for the Coppell Police Department because currently officers have to take offenders to the jail, do processing, and take custody duties. which means that they do not spend as much time patrolling the community. Also, the 911 dispatchers, have to watch the prisoners in the jail, instead of being solely focused on their main job.
With the two jails combining together, Coppell officers will be able to spend more time patrolling the streets, the 911 dispatchers can focus on their main job instead of worrying about the prisoners, and will allow the city to save money.
