Due to the lack of a harsh winter season in North Texas, it has been brought to the attention of many that Copperheads have been heavily sighted. These snakes are biters – rather than strikers – which makes preventing harm easier.
Venomous snakes live near the ground which allows them to hide under various logs and rocks. One should be cautious of where they are walking or sitting, or even placing their hands. Because the fangs of these snakes break easily, it is difficult for bites to be prevalent if one is wearing canvas tennis shoes or leather shoes or boots.
Copperheads can be recognized by their get and brown body and their copper toned head. If one is seen in your home or any other indoor facility, contact Animal Services at 972-304-3515.
