Over the summer, features editor Mary Whitfill is traveling to Romania, a former communist nation, to work in orphanages across Transylvania. She thinks that this opportunity is rather a duty in paying it forward to those less fortunate than herself.
“I think this opportunity will serve me well in learning about the struggles of people in other nations not as fortunate as our own. I feel like I come from a very privileged place, and it is my responsibility to help out any way I can,” Whitfill said.
She leaves for the month long trip in mid June.
