When they arrived at school, many students today did not expect that their 6th period class would be interrupted by a storm.
As students lined the lockers on the lower floors, hail pounded away at the roof, a sound that could be heard even above the chatter. Many students were on their phones looking at the weather report, or trying to placate worried parents or relatives. At approximately 2:30, the students were told to go back to their 6th period, and the students who have senior release are still not being allowed to leave until the storm passes.
The storm was much worse in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where as many as two tornadoes have actually touched down and are wreaking havoc on homes and buildings.
The tornado warning for this area is in effect until 3:30.
