The Dallas Business Journal has recognized Coppell ISD as a recipient of the Texas Comptroller’s 2011 Texas Honors Circle Award (THCA). The THCA is based on the Financial Accountability System of Texas (FAST) results and is awarded to those districts that score high marks on the analysis. FAST measures how spending in Texas public schools translate to student academic performance.
CISD scored prefect five stars. A five-star rating shows that the district is in the top 20 percent of the state in student academic growth, but has a spending index classified as “very low.”
In a press release on CISD’s website, superintendent Dr. Jeff Turner said the following:
“Our School Board has always done an excellent job of using the resources we have to make decisions that are based on the local needs and desires of the community. In all honesty, CISD was skillfully engaged in efficient operations before we ever knew there was a state award for doing so. Achieving more with less is just a good business practice.”
