The Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center is almost done with their near year long project of expanding and updating their facilities. The renovations began on March 1, 2011 and are expected to finish completely within two weeks. The new features cost the total of $5.8 million and hopes to compensate for the overcrowded workout facilities and outdated appearance.
In my experience at the center, working out at prime times has always been difficult. One can expect to wait a while for machines and usually there isn’t a treadmill open in sight. I am happy that the rennovations are almost complete as the center already looks tremendously better.
Some new features include a new cardio and weight room, aerobics room for classes, and also new and improved fitness equipment. The city also reconstructed the pool features of the center by building a new slide and children’s play area to compliment adults who want to swim laps indoors and children who want to use the slide. Offices, community centers, and even the lobby have also been renovated to provide a more upscale and updated look.
The city hopes to have a re-grand opening Labor Day weekend to celebrate the expansion completion. To stay up to date with the project, visit the Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center homepage.
