This Friday and Saturday, February 24- 25 a total of six Coppell Wrestlers competed in the State Tournament in Austin, TX.

After two intense days of competition, senior Sam Rice advanced through all the levels of competition to win the individual championship for 5A Texas High Schools. During the regular season, Rice maintained a phenomenal record of 42-0 in the 285 pound weight class.

Rice stood out all season long, taking down competition left and right at the teams earlier meets. After dominating the competition all season long, Rice ended off his high school wrestling career as a State Champion. This fall, Rice will be attending Southern Methodist University where he has signed to play football.

At the Region II Tournament at Arlington Martin High School, the boys took the 3rd place award while the girls ended up with a steady 2nd place finish. From the 17 wrestlers that qualified for the Regional Tournament and 6 advanced to State.

The other competitors who advanced to state include Avery Souders who placed 5th, Kaleb Richardson, Daniel Murillo, Samantha Tudor, and Stephanie Martinez.

Even after taking the District Title for both boys and girls, the Coppell Wrestling team has had a phenomenal season. Be sure to congratulate them on their vast success!
