Five Cowgirls Soccer players sign to play in college

    By Kristen Shepard
    Staff Writer

Every morning, the Cowgirls soccer team takes over the football field and works towards an incredible season. The season is winding down, and today marks the day that five varsity players sign to play college soccer. These five girls are Cassidy Spriggs, Jackie Moreau, Jessica Berdan, Kasey Johnson and Lindsey Meyer.

The girls and their families will be signing with various colleges today, with Coach Stricker and their families there to support them. The girls are spreading out all throughout the country with Kasey Johnson committing to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Lindsey Meyer committing to the University of Texas, which was ranked 12th entering this year’s NCAA Tournament.
College soccer is different than in high school, but a program as successful as Coppell’s has prepared the girls well. With the 2009 State Championship to reflect on, the team has spent the last two years ranked in the top five in the country.

Coppell girls soccer has a history of success and scouts have certainly turned to Coppell repeatedly for talent on their collegiate teams. One notable Coppell alumni, Chioma Ubagagu, signed with Stanford and played in the collegiate soccer national championship against Duke. Stanford was victorious, winning 1-0 and claiming the national title.
Be sure to congratulate these girls for this huge accomplishment if you see them!
