This Saturday, the Japan-America Society of Dallas will host a Japanese New Year celebration called “Mochitsuki”.
Mochitsuki is the pounding of Japanese sweet rice (Mochi) in preparation for the New Year. The event will also include calligraphy (Kakizome), flower arranging (Ikebana) and origami. Guests will also have a chance to sample Mochi and green tea with a variety of other traditional Japanese foods.
This festival will be hosted by Fujitsu and is held in the Cafeteria of their Richardson building. It will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, and tickets are $8. For more information, visit the Japan-America Society website.
