‘Inspirationals’ keep Volleyball team’s eyes on the prize

The season is slowly winding down for many fall sports, but the Coppell Volleyball team is running strong. Coppell Volleyball’s playoff run may be just beginning. With two wins under their belt, the CHS Volleyball team is motivated and inspired to power through playoffs.

All throughout their district run, Coach Green has taken part in what she calls “inspirationals” to fire up the team on game days. Each week, new volleyball coach Julie Green attaches a small item to each of the varsity players’ lockers and gives a motivational speech pertaining to the item.

“Inspirationals are a great way to get us focused and pumped up for the game,” sophomore outside hitter Kate Dicken said. “One game Coach Green gave us mousetraps and told us a story about different farm animals that needed to work together for the best of the farm. Then we tie it back to our team and the fun story is a reminder of the little things we should remember on the court.”

For each of the district games, a new inspiration is given in hopes that the girls will remember the stories behind each item and be inspired to play hard. To take the state championship, the team needs to win the next five games and they are well on their way. Be sure to wish your Cowgirls good luck!
