For five days, Coppell police were in search of 84-year-old Hwanyeo Park who disappeared from his local home on May 3. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office declared the death an ‘accidental drowning’ after Park’s body was discovered in the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
Park was last seen leaving his Coppell home around 2 p.m. on May 3. Family members reported him missing around 9:30 p.m. that evening. Park only spoke Korean and was known to take walks in the afternoon, leaving around 2 p.m. and returning by 6 p.m. Park was visiting his grandchildren, who go to children in Coppell, and had been in the area for a few weeks.
A pair of kayakers discovered the body early Sunday morning.
