Today, April 7, Juniors and selected freshmen classes took the EOC test or the End of Course Exam that will replace the TAKS tests in the coming years.
The EOC, which is similar to the TAKS in which it is split into science, english, math and history sections. I, myself being a member of the junior class, had the displeasure of taking the EOC test today in the small gym. I found it to be even easier than the TAKS and a lot shorter than the TAKS from what I remember. Also, I’m not even sure why juniors were forced to take the test because we won’t have to take the EOC in the future and this test wasn’t even graded. That being the case, I’m pretty sure more than seventy-five percent of the people in their just bubbled in random answers and then just sat there because we had no incentive to take the test.
I’m sure I can speak for the freshmen that took the test today as well that none of them took the test seriously because nobody cared. If they wanted the test to mean something, they should have told us they were grading it and they should have made all the freshmen take it. That way we would have actually tried on the test instead of just making cool designs on our scantrons.
