This Saturday, Feb. 19th, all Coppell High School choir students will participate in the annual UIL solo and ensemble competition. After months of practicing on their own, these students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their musical talent in front of a judge for the opportunity to advance to the next level.
All Coppell High School choirs – Madrigals, Vivace, Bel Canto, Select Women’s, Brava, Concert and Treble Choir – have had the opportunity to allow each of their members to pick a unique piece of music to sing. These students have practiced their selected piece of music one-on-one with their private voice teacher for several months before the competition.
At the competition, students will enter a room with a judge and piano accompanist and perform their piece; based off of this performance, they will receive a score of a one to five, one being the best score attainable and five the worst. Those students that manage to attain a score of one will then have the opportunity of traveling to state to once again perform in a similar manner. While at state, these students will gain the opportunity to be selected for a “chair” position within their certain choir.
