Sidekick Showdown: The fuzzy monster taking the world by storm

The Labubu doll, sold in Pop Mart, has taken the world by storm from inventory selling out within minutes of release to toys resold hundreds of dollars. As the Labubu craze unravels, The Sidekick staff designers Ahana Roy and Sohalia Reddy dispute common drawbacks and benefits of the viral fuzzy monster on Sidekick Showdown.

Ahana Roy is a senior and 3rd year staff designer on The Sidekick. In her A/V Tech class, Ahana learned about The Sidekick and joined in hopes of being able to draw more. She knew she wanted to join after seeing the comic section in the program. In her free time, Ahana loves playing video games like Genshin Impact and Infinity Nikki, reading webtoons like True Love Operation and Be By My Side along with romance novels. You can also find her binge watching TV shows during breaks and weekends, her favorites are JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, When Life Gives You Tangerines and The Apothecary Diaries. Sohalia Reddy
Sohalia Reddy, Staff Designer
Sohalia Reddy is a senior and third year staff designer on The Sidekick. She takes a particular interest in creating graphics and page design. In her free time, she enjoys drinking Danimals, waving flags, drawing and playing video games. Safiya Azam
Safiya Azam, Social Media Editor/Podcast Producer

Safiya Azam is a senior on The Sidekick, and a third-year within the program.

She believes there are many ways to tell a story and acts on this belief through her use of various forms of journalism specializing in podcasts and social media as Social Media Editor / Podcast Producer for the year.
