Wendy Le has a deep, dark secret.
And, no, it is not that she has a secret twin sister, a talking tumor on her head or six toes — it is that she is actually a cat.
Now that I have your attention, none of those things (except maybe the last one) are true, but the bizarre nature of these lies do encapsulate just how wild Coppell High School senior and The Sidekick executive social media manager Wendy Le’s personality can get.
When you step into CHS Sidekick room D115, Wendy will often be seen diligently typing away while standing at her computer can feign an image of nonchalance, yet her trademarked greeting of “meow” tells you otherwise.
My first Sidekick boot camp I was sold a similar illusion, where Wendy’s stylish flair and mature stature made approaching her a daunting task. This image was subsequently shattered as she opened her mouth and a jumble of brain rot proceeded to flow from her conversation.
From that moment forward, I knew Wendy was going to be someone I could relate to on a spiritual level.
Summer of 2023, we bonded over our mutual love for humorous influencers and thrifting as she pushed me to record my very first podcast. A trend of inspiration that would continue into my years in Sidekick as Wendy’s passion for everything she does motivated me to try out new mediums.
But, passion is an understatement for what Wendy puts into her work.
The thing about Wendy is it truly does not matter what you catch her doing; she won’t just do it, she will do it to the best of her abilities. In my sophomore year, I knew her as podcast producer and I could not imagine her doing better in any other section. Now that she is a social media editor, I find myself thinking the exact same sentiment but about her current position.
So, thank you Wendy, for days spent laughing with you over TikTok references, the energetic class chants you made us do in D115, the advice you’ve given me over high school, college and any aspects of my life. But, most importantly, thank you for showing me what passion truly looks like and inspiring me to put my all in everything I do.
Or in simpler words, “meow.”
